Lesson Policies

Payment

All payments are made in advance of the payment cycle. Students may choose to enroll for a full term (Option A) or on a monthly basis (Option B), as outlined on the Schedule and Costs page.

The School of Musical Traditions accepts payments via credit card or invoice. We do not accept checks or cash.

Studio Cancellation

If the studio cancels your lesson due to inclement weather, teacher absence, or any other reason, we will offer you the choice to:

  1. Credit that lesson fee to the next payment cycle
  2. A full refund for that lesson
  3. Credit the cost of the lesson to a workshop or group class.

Holiday Closures

We are closed for the following holidays: New Years Eve and Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve and Day. We are usually closed for the entire weekend when the holiday falls on a Sunday or Monday, and will provide notice about specific dates.

Photo Permission

We love to take photos of our students learning and performing! New students sign a photo release form upon beginning lessons. We will alert you when we are about to take a photo, so simply let us know if you choose to opt out.

FAQs

Can I begin lessons after the term has started?

Students who begin lessons after the 1st week of the term will automatically be enrolled in the monthly payment plan (Option B). You will have the option to switch to the term payment plan (Option A) for the following term.

Can I change my lesson time or work with a different teacher?

We are almost always able to accommodate a permanent change in lesson time and/or teacher. Simply contact us so we can help you out. 

Can I meet my teacher before I start lessons?

We offer an optional, complimentary 15 minute introduction call. This time allows you to meet your teacher and get a sense for how they teach. Come prepared with all of your questions! 

How do I end lessons?

Students who are enrolled for the full term may complete the term and elect to end lessons at that time.

Students who are paying on a monthly basis must write to us by the 20th of the final month of lessons so we can remove you from the next billing cycle.

What if I need to end lessons before the end of the payment cycle I selected?

If you end lessons prior to the payment cycle you selected, please select one:

  1. 50% refund. We will pay your teacher for the remainder of the payment cycle, so they can receive income as planned.
  2. No refund. We will pay your teacher for the remainder of the payment cycle, and the excess will be transferred to our scholarship fund.
